Essay 3 Student Proposal

Student Proposal Assignment and Rubric

Instructions: You will work to solve RCSHS’s biggest problem. (NOTE:The biggest problem CANNOT be anything related to COVID19!)

What is the problem?

You get to decide!

Step 1: Create a Google Doc (MLA format).
Make a list of all the things that you think need attention at your school.

Step 2: POST your top 5 "problems" in the Discussion Board entitled "Essay 3 Topics" on Blackboard.

Step 3: Create a proposal to really solve this problem.

To understand proposal arguments, read Chapter 12 (I have posted Chapter 12 in a folder for you, just in case you do not have your book) and watch these videos:

Student Proposal Lecture:

What’s in a Proposal? Essay

Add to your list of problems...

Part 1: Explanation of the problem.
Part 2: Current Policies.
Part 3: Your Claim (This is a statement of your solution; How will you solve the problem?)
Part 4: Research. Does this solution work? Has it worked before?
Part 5: Implementation: Will this solution be easy to implement? What are the costs? How will the solution be funded?

Step 5:Create a Google Slides presentation to accompany the oral presentation, as we have learned that visual arguments help to convince our audience. Add Audio to "talk us through" your proposal. POST your Presentation on the Discussion Board entitled "Essay 3 Topics" on Blackboard.

Step 6: Provide feedback to your peers by clicking “reply.” EACH reply MUST contain a Glow and a Grow!

You will be scored on your essay, your presentation, and your FEEDBACK to your peers!
